Marina Attendant Training Seminars was founded on a deep passion for boating safety and education. It all began with Capt. Jack Klang, who earned his captain’s license at just 16 years old and dedicated his career to teaching and guiding others on the water. From creating an approved sailing course for high school students to authoring multiple books and earning commendations from the U.S. Coast Guard for rescues at sea, Capt. Jack’s expertise is unmatched. He and his wife spent over 30 summers exploring the Great Lakes aboard their beloved 30’ Chris Craft, Hells Bells.

In the mid-1990s, after a DNR survey revealed that boaters’ top concerns were unclean restrooms and untrained marina staff, Capt. Jack took action—writing the definitive training manual for marina personnel. Since 1997, this program has been used in over 80 marinas across the Great Lakes, certifying more than 2,000 marina staff to ensure safe, professional service for boaters. Today, his son, Greg Klang, proudly carries on his father’s legacy, continuing to provide hands-on training that upholds the highest standards of safety and professionalism in marinas.
